About Department

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was founded in 1937 aiming to meet our country’s need for Mechanical Engineers. 4 years after its foundation, the department graduated its first students in 1941. Branch education for specialization carried out for the first time in 1973 in both our university and our country. Since 1973, our department has successfully educated mechanical engineers who can specialize thanks to select courses in specific subjects of Mechanical Engineering. Mechanical Engineering Department includes seven divisions: Division of Hydromechanics and Hydraulic Machines, Division of Construction, Division of Machine Theory-System Dynamics and Control, Division of Machine Materials and Manufacturing Technology, Division of Mechanics, Division of Automotive and Division of Thermodynamics.

Mechanical Engineering Department; includes 3 programs as Undergraduate Program, Master, Ph.D.

Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Program

The program consists of 5years in total including 1 year of English Preparatory Class and 4 years of formal education. The 4-year teaching period is divided into 8 semesters based on the passmark system. All students are obliged to carry out the workshop internship for 20 working days in the summer term and 40 work days internship according to area of the profession to be chosen after completing the 4th semester. Professional Field of the internship varies according to the branch. We are starting our branch education as of the 5th semester. There are, are 7 branches; Construction, Energy, Automotive; Heat Process, Manufacturing and Air Conditioning. Graduates are awarded undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering.

Master Program

Master's Degree Program in Mechanical Engineering is being carried out in the Institute of Science and Technology. In this program; There are six subprograms: Energy, Heat Process, Manufacturing Procedures, Construction, Machine Theory, Control and Automotive. Students completing this program are awarded a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Ph.D. Program

A Ph.D. Program in Mechanical Engineering is being carried out in the Institute of Science and Technology. In this program; There are six subprograms: Energy, Heat Process, Manufacturing Procedures, Construction, Machine Theory, Control and Automotive. Students completing this program are awarded the Ph.D. Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Vision:

To continue to be a department that has a nationally and internationally undergraduate and post graduate education in line the with requirements of our country and the world's engineering needs, who is engaged in up-to-date scientific research, contributes to literary and technological developments.

Mission:

It is to train individuals who are able to design and analyze thermal and mechanical systems, apply their production techniques, have professional and ethical responsibility, work in harmony with their teammates, confident, entrepreneurial, researching, open to technological developments and beneficial to the country and humanity.

The purpose of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is; technologically advanced, capable of identifying and analyzing complex engineering problems, having analytical thinking ability, open to all kinds of innovations, self-developed, able to communicate verbally and in writing on Turkish or foreign language, assimilate ethical values, susceptible to interdisciplinary team work, continuous learning and self- open to development, capable of responding to national and international needs, producing quality scientific values, human beings are useful to train individuals.

Our graduates are aiming to;

-  Working in units requiring mechanical engineering education in national or international institutions and organizations,

-  Developing projects that will solve problems by detecting problems

- Taking office in research-development (R&D) and  product development (P&D) projects in the industry

-  Establish new business fields with entrepreneurial approach and make contributions to the development of the industry by working in priority areas,

-  To conduct scientific research in national and international research institutions,
